Dealership Shop Foreman

Job Summary:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dealership's service department, ensuring efficiency, quality control, and compliance with manufacturer and dealership standards. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage a team of technicians to provide exceptional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Shop Operations & Workflow Management:
- Supervise and coordinate daily work assignments for technicians to ensure an efficient workflow.
- Monitor and prioritize repair orders (ROs) to meet customer expectations and dealership objectives.
- Ensure that all repairs and maintenance services are completed accurately and on time.
- Assist in diagnosing complex vehicle issues and provide technical guidance to technicians.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with Cal/OSHA safety regulations.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Perform final inspections on completed repairs to ensure quality and adherence to manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor warranty repairs to ensure proper procedures are followed for manufacturer reimbursement.
- Ensure all service work complies with dealership policies, state regulations, and industry standards.
- Address customer concerns related to service and repairs, working closely with the Service Manager to resolve issues.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical training to service technicians.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve technician efficiency and skills.
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, and developing new technicians.
- Ensure technicians stay updated with manufacturer training and certifications.
Customer Service & Communication:
- Work closely with Service Advisors to communicate repair needs, time estimates, and potential upsell opportunities.
- Ensure customers receive high-quality service and a clear understanding of repairs performed.
- Help mediate customer complaints related to vehicle repairs when necessary.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inventory of tools and equipment.
- Work with the Parts Department to ensure timely availability of necessary parts for repairs.
- Identify and recommend new equipment or technology to improve shop efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, with leadership experience preferred.
- ASE Certifications and manufacturer-specific certifications (Toyota, Chevrolet, or equivalent) highly desirable.
- Strong diagnostic skills and in-depth knowledge of automotive repair processes.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of technicians.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with dealership management software (DMS), service scheduling tools, and manufacturer diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of California labor laws and Cal/OSHA safety standards.
- Valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record.

- Full-time position, with weekends and extended hours as needed.
